Professor Adrian Mann's research on bioglass nanofibers is featured on the cover "Advanced Functional Materials". The article entitled, "Laser Spinning of Bioactive Glass Nanofibers" describes the utilization of a new synthesis technique, laser spinning, in the rapid production of extremely long, resorbable, ceramic nanofibers. The fibers have potential applications in a range of hard tissue treatments and there flexibility means they may also be of utility for some soft tissue applications. The research was conducted as part of a collaboration amongst Rutgers University, the University of Vigo in Spain and Imperial College in London, UK. The work was supported by the European Union.
